The purpose of this site is to provide information on the most popular villages, towns, cities and places to visit in and around Great Britain and the UK. Travel About Britain is an independent travel site and is not part of any official government tourism body, neither do we receive any government funding.
It is our aim to provide unbiased information and photographs based on personal experience. Although there are some exceptions, most articles are about places that our authors have personally visited. It is hoped that writing from personal experience will provide the site with more realistic content. Unfortunately this means that coverage of some areas of Britain may not be as extensive as we'd like at this time, and that other areas, particularly in the south where we live, will have better coverage. Eventually we aim to cover those areas of Britain that are lacking. The content of the site is therefore an ongoing project, so please be patient if some pages do not contain much information at the moment.
Who are the site authors?
The majority of the information on this site has been compiled and written by Steve Benney, who was born in the UK and has worked as a professional Technical Author for over 20 years. Steve has travelled around Britain extensively, living in many areas of England during his lifetime.
Steve is currently taking time out to travel around the whole of Britain to take photographs and gather information for this site. So far he has provided over 10,000 photographs for our database, which are waiting to be processed.
We have several other enthusiastic volunteers who are helping to write content and provide photographs. Acknowledgements have been placed after each contribution.
